Nothing accomplished in the summer playoffs will make up for the crushing upset loss Lincoln-Way East suffered in the first round of the IHSA postseason this spring.

The Griffins were the No. 1 seed in the Lockport Sectional and fell to No. 17 seed Romeoville.

That defeat, however, gave the Griffins a little more reason than most teams to be excited to compete for a summer title.
