Longtime Mokena resident and former sports reporter Terry Boers performs a comedy routine at CD&ME in Frankfort on Saturday, Nov. 10. Boers, a cancer survivor, has decided to make the most of his second chance by spending more time with his family.

The blaring television cast a glow on the faces packed into the hospital room as Terry Boer and his family watched the Cubs beat the Cleveland Indians in the 2016 World Series. This was a win Boer, former Sun-Times columnist and WSCR host, anticipated throughout the year, only he never imagined he would be watching Game 7 from a bed at Northwestern Hospital while recovering from surgery on his jaw.
