Last week President Barack Obama hosted the very first White House Maker Faire.

Maker Faires are events set within a large, carnival-like atmosphere that encourage learning and showcases the newest and most fascinating things crafted by makers: a large metal fire breathing dragon, soldering classes for kids, underwater robots, that sort of thing. They’re places for inventors to show off their newest creations, and for the public to see them.
