It’s the Saturday before Easter when Kate Gabey goes on a routine run.

There is nothing unusual about it at the start for the avid runner and Lincoln-Way East health and physical education teacher as she continues her training for the upcoming Boston Marathon, but a little while into stride, Gabey started to notice an extensive amount of pain in her foot.

“I ended up going in to see a doctor, got an MRI and found out it was a stress fracture,” Gabey said.
