Mokena was rocking on Saturday, Aug. 2 as the Rock Camp bands at All About Music performed the All About Musicpalooza.
All About Musicpalooza is an annual event that showcases summer students that are enrolled in Rock Camp and Theatre Camp at All About Music and Children's Theatre in Mokena.
The day started at 3 p.m. with a presentation of the Colors by the Veterans from the Mokena VFW- William Martin Post # 725
There was a large crowd to see children perform a play called, "On the Road to Woodstock," which the Theatre Camp performed with the band 3rd Degree. The band consists of All About Music owners Connie Johnson-Beebe and Todd Beebe along with John McShane and Steve Yarbrough.
The Summer Rock Camp students performed in two bands. The two bands were called Thunder Bullets and Hazardous Materials. They both performed four cover songs and one original that they wrote. Both bands put on a show as they performed together for the finale.
"Musicpalooza was a great success," Connie Johnson-Beebe, said. "We had over 400 people attend that day."
Guests could attend with a discount if they donated items for the troops. "We took in thousands of donations of all kinds for our troops overseas," Johnson-Beebe, said. "A lot of money was raised as well, which will also be used to shop and buy even more supplies."
Money was also made from a raffle for a guitar signed by Gary Sinise, which was won by Jared Clutter.
"The event went off great, and we have received positive feedback from all who attended," Johnson-Beebe added.
